Mobile App Development

Before anything else: most businesses that want an app do not need one.

If your app would do roughly what your website already does, users will not download it. Installing something takes effort, and it has to earn a place on someone's home screen. A responsive website reaches everyone instantly and costs a fraction as much to build and maintain.

We will tell you this at the start rather than after you have spent your budget. When an app genuinely is the right answer, we build it.

When an app makes sense

You need something the browser cannot do

Push notifications that actually arrive, offline functionality, camera or GPS integration, or background processes. If these are central to what you are building, an app is the right choice.

Repeat usage is the point

Booking systems, loyalty schemes, delivery tracking, and internal tools that staff open several times a day. Frequency justifies the install.

Internal business tools

Apps for your own team — stock management, job sheets, site inspections, delivery confirmations. These often deliver the clearest return because usage is guaranteed and there is no download barrier to overcome.

You already have an engaged audience

If people use your service weekly and ask for an app, that is a genuine signal. If nobody has asked, that is a signal too.

What we build

Cross-platform apps

Built once, running on iOS and Android. For most business apps this is the sensible route — roughly one codebase, one set of updates, and considerably lower cost than building twice.

Native apps

Where performance demands it, or where the app relies heavily on platform-specific features.

Progressive web apps

Installable from the browser, working offline, sending notifications, with no app store approval process and no store fees. For a lot of businesses this covers everything they actually wanted from an app, at a fraction of the cost. We will suggest it where it fits.

Backend and APIs

The part clients rarely think about and cannot do without. Databases, authentication, payments, and the APIs connecting the app to your existing systems. We build these in PHP or Node depending on what the project needs.

How we work

We challenge the brief first

What the app is for, who will use it, how often, and what happens if they do not download it. If a website update would achieve the same outcome, we will say so. That conversation is free and occasionally saves people a great deal of money.

We scope properly before quoting

App projects fail when scope is vague. We define what version one includes and what waits for later, in writing, before development starts.

Build in stages

You see working builds at each stage rather than waiting months for a finished product. Problems found early are cheap; problems found at launch are not.

We are clear about ongoing costs

Apps are not a one-off purchase. Operating system updates break things, app stores change their requirements, and both Apple and Google charge annual developer fees. We set out these costs before you commit, because they are the part people are usually not warned about.

What you get

  • Scoping and technical specification before development
  • UI and UX design, reviewed before build
  • Development with staged demonstrations
  • Testing across real devices, not just simulators
  • App Store and Google Play submission support
  • Source code and full ownership on completion
  • Post-launch support period

Pricing

Quoted per project after scoping. App costs vary enormously with complexity, and any developer giving you a figure before understanding the requirements is guessing.

We will always tell you the cheapest route that meets your actual need — which is sometimes a progressive web app, sometimes an improved mobile website, and sometimes a full native build.

Why Marktechsol

We build websites and custom PHP applications as our main work, which means we approach apps as engineering rather than as a product to sell. We have no incentive to talk you into a build you do not need, because we would rather do the website work well than deliver an app nobody opens.

If we are not the right team for a particularly complex project, we will tell you that too.
